I'm going to give "blogging" a try and see how it goes. Life is pretty busy for us here, but I'm considering a "blog" that will allow us to reach out and educate others. It's also an opportunity to be educated by others who comment on the blogs.
Last year we were able to get our arena set up. We now have the boxes and chute working. Unfortunately it was too late in the year to make any use of it. We look forward to next spring and spending some time roping at our home for the first time. I've been using it for doing some training on barrels. I've been working with 2 of our mares on the pattern and building up speed. We've also used it for teaching the kids in our family to ride.
We have 2 barns, one is open to the south and is used for storing hay and as a run-in for Tonka and Dixie. The other has a tack room, 8 stalls and hay storage. The stalls are used when we bring the horses in to go riding. We also use them in severe blizzards in the winter months. That is more for our comfort because it is much easier to feed in the stalls than to haul hay out in the snow for them. I've found their preference is to be outside with a natural windbreak to provide protection from the elements.
I'm going to leave it at this for now. I'll be back online another time to write some more about us and how we are set up.
